What to wear for your collection
Consider where you are taking your photos—what colors does that location emit? what kind of vibe are you trying to present.
Choose what makes you confident and fits well.
Focus on the clothes you know compliment your body, can withstand the weather (sweat stains, keep ya warm as needed, etc.)
-
• Do not wait to pick out your outfit day of
• Do not wear bright colors such as hot pink, neon green unless you want a major emphasis on your clothes.
• No plaids or busy patterns as it is distracting from the subject, you.
• If you sweat easily and we are shooting in warmer seasons, consider wearing dark colors that hide that you are sweating. Do not wear anything that makes you see sweat easily. If you have to, buy thin panty liners to mask the
sweat. (Yes, this is a real DIYer).
• Do not wear tight clothing unless you have the confidence of Will Ferrell.
• Do not wear anything you feel uncomfortable in.
Do not wear anything that has to be constantly adjusted such as a low riding top or anything that requires tape to hold correctly.
-
• Bring several articles of clothing with you on the day of—in case you change your mind or decide to make a quick change. Have them an easily totable bag to carry around.
• Wear a tank top under your clothing or
spandex shorts to make public changes.
• Wear a nice tight strapless bra or nipple
stickers. Has to be said, it’s done.
• Wear clothes you feel confident and
comfortable in.
• When you shoot with me, I will make you WORK, so be sure to be ready to move around. Unless you want some real still shots.
• Solid patterns and neutral colors come
HIGHLY recommended to me.
• Think white, black, beige, pale pink,
washed comfort tee colors. Unless we
are pushing for a more artsy vibrant
session, think bright red dress in a
cityscape artsy.
• I encourage more neutral colors
because white is a forever color. I
want you to look back and love your
images, not remorse the ugly hot
pink Hollister shirt you wore. Think
for generations, not a season. Be bold, make a statement, but a timeless bold statement.
• Bring the cute wedges but bring some
sandals or flip flops to walk in.
• Accessories can make the outfit. A cute pair of dangle earrings, a cardigan, platform wedges, rings on your fingers. Go treat yourself and buy something you’ve always wanted for yourself from Target.
• Please wear a lip color
—no nude tones. Nothing too bright, also a good neutral color unless you want bright lips to be the theme to your collection.
• Shoot for a pretty neutral look, no heavy
shadow colors, unless that is what you want the focus to be. Know that my camera will really emphasize the natural indention of a person’s eyes, so be cautious of making choices for your eyelids. Ask if needed, of course!
• Make sure your man shaves well.
When you hate everything in your closet
Please remember the part where I said I do not want you to wear anything you are uncomfortable in.
• If there is something you are uncomfortable about in
your own skin, please let me know at the beginning of the session. I do not pose you strictly unless I have to. I will pose you if I am asked however as we have discussed I am more focused on creating an experience with candid images and moving
shots. I strongly encourage everyone to love themselves no matter what they look like, which is why I do not offer photo shopping unless there is a mosquito bite on your face. Otherwise, if you are uncomfortable with yourself as a whole, you may not enjoy your collection at all with no one at fault. We must love ourselves. I would love to chat
if this is a struggle in your heart.
